By law, all children of compulsory school age must receive a suitable full-time education. Once your child is registered at school, you are legally responsible for making sure that they attend regularly.
At Girnhill Infant School we work closely with parents and carers to achieve and maintain high standards of attendance. For a child to reach their full educational achievement coming to school every day is essential. We are committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all our children in an environment where all pupils feel welcome and valued. Every child has a right to access the education to which he/she is entitled.
If your child is going to be absent from school, you should contact the school office before 9:00am for each day of absence.
Late arrivals and early departures will be monitored and recorded to enable the school to monitor the frequency or any patterns that emerge.
Doctor/Dentist appointments must be communicated to the school office in advance of the appointent, please try to make appointments after school or as late in the school day as possible.
No holidays are authorised during term time

Please note that children who are persistently late or absent soon fall behind with their learning. Children who are absent from school frequently develop large gaps in their learning which will impact on their progress and their ability to meet age related learning expectations. .
