The School Council is made up of a group of enthusiastic children who represent the pupil voice within the school. Each class has 3 representatives who put themselves forward and were voted for democratically by their peers. They meet regularly with Mrs Taylor to complete tasks, plan and discuss forthcoming events.
Academic Year 2017/18
During the Autumn term the councillors launched and supported the Christmas “Chocolate Raffle” fundraising event. The aim of this was to raise funds to contribute to enhancing the curriculum for all. Posters were displayed around school and council members led an assembly to promote the event. They supported drawing the raffle on the day and many children went home happy winners! Over £100 was raised – well done and thank you to all!
The money contributed to the cost of the January performance of “Goldilocks and The Three Bears” by Chaplins Pantomime, to launch the Spring topic of “Once upon a time”
A local garden centre has very kindly donated a large collection of bulbs. The council members are currently planning a whole school planting day. We look forward to sharing the event with you soon!
Later in the term, council members will work alongside Mrs Hughes, the Learning Mentor, to produce a child friendly safe guarding poster. They will discuss what they think children can do to stay safe in and out of school and present this in an appealing and clear to understand format.
